    • @ptstransky
      @ptstransky Рік тому

      Thanks for watching. I believe they were 10amps for each line. You can of course put what ever you wish. Those fuses came w the unit. I also think the main one, was 30amp. Again its what came with it. Obviously overkill.

    Paul, thank you for your service. I am hoping to see your finished model. The USCGC Arundel is not a forgotten ship. It was the first ship built for the Coast Guard with ice-breaking in its design. It is a living piece of history. It is now the Erika Kobasic. I watched the Erika Kobasic break ice this weekend in concert with the USCG and the Canadian CG. The lady still knows how to dance. And she dances very well.

    • @ptstransky
      @ptstransky 2 роки тому

      jdholland2009, Thank you! I am also hoping to see my model finished! LOL.. It's not dead. I have just had so many failures on it couple with numerous other household projects etc.. It went from brass, to a steel build, to a wood build. I have 3 hulls. Now I think I am going back to steel one. I have quite a bit of video showing my failures that I need to edit. I have been 'aggressively getting ready' to do that for some time. Realizing my shortcomings in metal work, I purchased a TIG welder last year. I need to figure out how to use it without embarrassing myself on video. Re the Erikal Kobasic, thanks for sharing! I would have loved to have seen it. I had actually tracked her down while looking for plans but the marine contracting company never responded to my emails. I did get a chance to see her in person a couple of summers ago, albeit from afar. I was on a motorcycle trip, returning home and routed myself through Escanaba, MI. Thanks again and stay well - Paul

    Paul, I know its been awhile since you've talked about this. But I'm interested in some old navy plans from the nat'l archives. Any details on the process of ordering what you wanted? Rough costs?

    • @ptstransky
      @ptstransky 2 роки тому

      There are lot of National archives. Lots of searching on the internet. Search for sister ship etc. They will help and can probably narrow down location etc.. but will not do personal searches. You either have to go in person or hire someone. On their (national archives) website they list some people who will do the on the ground work. Do your home work otherwise you will pay someone to start at the beginning. I paid a guy $250. It took.2 or 3 trips. But he was working for other clients at the same time. The National Archives is free. You could go yourself for free.

    An ambitious project given you’ve stated you’re not a metal worker. You have many cold soldered joints which will haunt you later. It’s unfortunate that you didn’t know about, or use, silver solder. With a little more heat you’d have bulletproof joints that are next to invisible. I hope you haven’t given up on the build given all the preliminary work you’ve done.

    • @ptstransky
      @ptstransky 2 роки тому

      No, haven't given up. As a matter of fact I have built two additional hulls. One of steel and one of wood. I realized my metal work needed help. I tried boosting the heat on the brass solder using Map-gas, which worked. The problem I encountered was with the extra heat, other joints became de-soldered. I have video waiting to be edited. Its been waiting for a while :-). I also recently purchased a tig welder. So in short, brass or steel, I will figure it out. Thanks!

    Hello Paul, you might want to revise your mounting points to the top half of the crankcase as that is the starting point of reassembling the engine. That is, you place the crank, balancer and transmission shafts in the top half of the engine and then place the bottom half on and bolt things up. I'm in the planning stages of an engine stand and will make an adapter for the engine with an arm over the top of the crankcase to hold the engine in place when the crankcases are upside down. I hope your repairs went well.

    I followed this and after replacing the fuel pump an initial improvement was seen. For about 20km. After this my bike went to shit again. It was fucked (the fuel pump) so I am not complaining about the fix. However, my problem also involved the fuel pressure regulator as well so my problem wasn't fixed just by replacing the fuel pump. My bike is now running perfectly. After I rust clean my tank I'm going to get it dyno tuned. The Suzuki manual for the Bandit has a warning not to remove the fuel pressure regulator. Probably because they charge around $180 for a new one (which a mechanic would install in 5 minutes like I did) and I got one for $35 on Amazon Prime. Hope this helps any fellow Bandit riders. My bike is an Australian delivered 1250S K9. 72,000km.
